We've saved between 5 and 8 million SEK with Homepal in just six months
“We are placing 400–500 fewer orders per month than before. In the first half of the year alone, this has saved us between five and eight million kronor.” – Tomi Heder, Process planner at Stockholmshem
When Stockholmshem began to take a closer look at its order flows, it became clear that there was much to be gained from working in a more data-driven way. By changing how it follows up, prioritizes, and makes decisions regarding orders, the company has saved several million—in just the first six months of the year.
“We are placing 400–500 fewer orders per month than before. In the first half of the year alone, this has saved us between five and eight million kronor.”
Behind the initiative is Tomi Heder, Process planner for business development. His job is to analyze working methods, prepare decision-making documentation, and identify potential for improvement—using the business's own data.
The starting point
Stockholmshem has many suppliers and large flows of orders and work orders. There was no overview of how much work was actually outsourced, which suppliers performed best, and how quickly cases were handled.
Certain key figures, such as completion times, were completely missing from several agreements—despite internal targets of, for example, seven days for handling. This made follow-up both difficult and time-consuming.
"Previously, we sent most things to suppliers. Now we start by seeing what we can solve ourselves—and then decide what needs to be sent out. The biggest benefit is that we don't have to process data manually. This allows us to act immediately."
In progress
Tomi has also compiled statistics on how appointments are booked with tenants. The goal is to streamline the planning of staff time. The visualizations show that there are often more bookable times than actual bookings.
“This gives us a case for changing the way we work – using that time for something other than just sitting around waiting to be booked.”
And that is exactly what Homepal is designed to enable: smarter decisions based on what is actually happening in the business.
With Homepal, Tomi and Stockholmshem have gained a tool that makes it easier to visualize, understand, and act on data. This has led to concrete savings (5-8 million in the first half of the year), more efficient meetings with suppliers, and new opportunities to develop internal working methods.
